This is to inform you that my friend (cousin) Despi passed away Sunday. We are thankful that Despi accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour before she died. According to her sister, Despi took Holy Communion and calmly laid down and went to sleep...then she awoke in Heaven with Jesus. This is the announcement in today's Sioux City Journal. SIOUX CITY | Despi A. Kounas, 74, of Sioux City, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital, after a brief illness. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Despi’s sister: She loved you and Curtis both dearly. I also put Sparky & Sparkle with her & everyone commented how precious it was. She always had them near her as they comforted her. Just would like you to know Des' service was beautiful. The arrangements were beautiful. I felt you were with us today. An amazing thing happened. It was cloudy & during the prayer service when Father was blessing her, the sun broke thru & rays of light shone on her. It was amazing. She is at peace & no more pain.
LDK: That sounds beautiful, like a message from. God! We were a little concerned that others might think the Christmas arrangement was odd. Was it ok?
Despi’s sister: Everyone raved about it. Both beautiful.
NOTE: This is a transcribed message Laurie and I received after the funeral. We both miss Despi. She was never far from us via telephone and emails. She will always be in my heart...I will see her again.

I'm so sorry to hear this! Despi (Herman1) was very helpful in finding information for me in my search for my ancestors. She will be greatly missed.
